Meet Dr. James Geisler
Dr. James Geisler is a nationally recognized leader in mental health, leadership, and continuing education. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, an approved Continuing Education provider through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and a graduate of the University of Connecticut (B.A.), Fairfield University (M.A.), and Oregon State University (Ph.D.).
From the earliest stages of his career, James recognized systemic challenges within the organizations he served. Where others saw fixed limitations, he saw opportunities for strategic transformation. Rather than accepting burnout, inefficiency, and stagnant systems as inevitable, he developed solutions that enhanced workflow, strengthened team morale, and improved long-term organizational sustainability. His willingness to take calculated risks and lead through complexity positioned him to oversee larger teams, navigate evolving landscapes, and drive measurable change.
A national advocate for strengthening clinical education, James has championed improvements in how Master’s-level clinicians are trained in suicide assessment and intervention. He is the author of Thrive Year One: The Essential Mental Health Workbook for First-Year College Students, a widely recognized resource designed to proactively support student well-being during the transition to higher education. This work has since expanded into a comprehensive curriculum and Parent’s Guide, advancing a holistic model of student and family wellness.
James develops continuing education programs, leadership courses, and certificate pathways that equip professionals with practical, immediately applicable strategies. As a keynote speaker, he is known for commanding rooms with clarity, humor, and depth, translating complex clinical and organizational concepts into actionable insight. He has published dozens of articles across multiple sectors within the mental health field.
His solution-focused leadership and innovative contributions have earned multiple professional honors. In Spring 2026, he will be recognized as a 40 Under Forty honoree by Westfair Business Journal.
